Maundy Thursday
|
|
On Maundy Thursday (the day before Jesus was crucified) Christians remember the Last Supper - Jesus' last meal with His disciples and the night He spent in the Garden of Gethsemane. At the Last Supper Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. In Catholic churches the Maundy Thursday service is held in the evening. It is made up of two parts - one is Washing the Feet which symbolises serving people (only a servant would have done this in Jesus' time) and the other is Removing the Host to the Altar of Repose.
