A Forest Fire
|
I sat in my chair twiddling my thumbs. I was bored because it seemed to be another day with nothing to do. The sudden noise of the phone made me jump. The voice was shouting at me to quickly come and help. There was afire in Blackbush forest. I had to calm the man down as he was very agitated. I took all the details from him and told him that I would deal with it straightaway. I shouted for my team to get ready and our journey began.
As we spread through the city streets the sirens were blaring and the blue lights were flashing very brightly. All the cars moved out of the way so that we could get through safely and quickly.
On arrival I marched into the forest and saw at close quarters the flames leaping into the sky. I knew that we would never control the fire with only one engine so I rushed to get my walkie-talkie. I shouted into it that I needed back-up teams and I needed them now. ‘Bring the helicopters as well’ I yelled. ‘We need as much water as possible’.’Right away sir’ the receptionist answered quickly.
The deer were bounding away from the fire and the rabbits were fleeing as fast as they could. They knew about the terrible danger.
I heard the distant rumble of the helicopters and looked up in relief to see them coming fast towards us. What a wonderful sight it was to see cascades of water falling on the fire. Almost instantly the flames were controlled and I knew that the fire engines on the ground could handle the rest.
After many long hours we climbed exhaustedly into the fire engines and drove back to the station. I collapsed onto my chair completely fatigued and sorry that I had been bored earlier.

Humpty Dumpty
|
Last night 11th December 1995, a terrible accident happened in nursery rhyme land.
Mr H Dumpty was sitting on a wall eating a bowl of sweets when suddenly a big stone came flying through the air at top speed and knocked poor Mr H Dumpty right off the wall. It was discovered later that his sister, Miss E Dumpty, had thrown it.
The terrible thing was that Mr H Dumpty was broken into smithereens and all the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put him back together again.
Jack and Jill who saw the incident happen whilst going up the hill to fetch some water said that they something like this would happen one day.
We hope that no more tragedies like this will ever happen again said Old King Cole. Any friends of Mr H Dumpty are invited to the funeral, which will take place at London Bridge Cemetery on 16th December.

Local Egg in Death Tumble
|
In Yolk Park yesterday morning, Mr and Mrs White witnessed a terrifying accident.
They were waking along a path and waved to Mr Dumpty who was eating an ice cream while sitting on a wall. It was an extremely hot day. As he waved back, Mr Dumpty overbalanced, tumbled down the hill and crashed into the iron railings of the army buildings.
Despite the hard work and the tremendous effort of the doctors, the king’s men and their horses, nothing could be done to save Mr Dumpty. His body, shell, white and yolk will be boiled and buried in the egg chapel in Eggsville on Friday.
All family and friends of Mr Dumpty will be welcome.

A Tragic Incident - Humpty Dumpty Killed in Freak Weather Accident
|
On a stormy Saturday morning the freak storms that hit much of the country caused the death of the well known Humpty Dumpty.
Humpty Dumpty was sitting on a high wall with his wife, Bunty Dumpty, watching a football match when a sudden gust of wind took him by surprise and blew him off the wall. Bunty Dumpty was able to hang onto the wall and saved herself. The fall broke Humpty Dumpty into many pieces. Bunty Dumpty called the ambulance but when the king heard about it he sent all of his men on their horses to see if they could help. Sadly, they were not able to put Humpty Dumpty back together and he died at 3pm, yesterday the 27th September.
His funeral will be held next Friday, 3rd October, at Westminster Abbey.

Local Egg in Death Tumble
|
Yesterday afternoon Mr Humpty Dumpty, a pupil from Scrambled School Eggsville, was attacked by one of his own teachers outside the Museum of Egg Culture.
Twenty eggs had joined the school trip, travelling over three hours to reach their destination. The trip was led by two teachers, Miss Sunny Side-Up and Mrs Sunny Side-Down. There was one parent helper, Mrs It Will Be All Wright. Eye witnesses reported that Humpty Dumpty suffered a fatal blow from behind while having his photograph taken. He was sitting on a wall outside the MEC at the time.
Goldilocks Blacktail, from Columbia, described the scene. ‘It was terrible, just like an omelette being made! Humpty Dumpty looked as if he had been fried and curried all at once. I saw Miss Sunny Side Up push him.’
Police confirm that Miss Sunny Side Up is the culprit. Mental eggness is thought to be the cause.
Humpty Dumpty’s mother is arranging a memorial fry-up. All good eggs will be welcome.
