LIII trip to Osmington Bay
|
|
|
Abseiling, archery, beach walk, circus skills, disco, dragon boat racing, fencing, high ropes, low ropes, mountain boarding, night hike, parachute games, photo quiz, problem solving, quiz, quad biking, sensory trail, tunnel trail.
Thirty-eight girls; eighteen activities, five days – it was busy!
From the moment we saw the site and the amazing views from the cliffs towards Weymouth, we knew we would have a great time.
The aims of the trip were to build confidence through challenging activities and teamwork, and to have fun after a hard year of work. At the end of five exhausting and action-packed days, staff and girls agreed that the aims had been met.
What the girls said:
When we were fencing, it felt like we were “action heroes” but all the protective clothing was really hot. En guarde!
In high ropes we were terrified – high-speed zip wire, 9 metre high “leap of faith” and balance beam, a wobbly Jacob’s Ladder – can you reach the top? But we did it!
Quad biking was really fun – We went quite slowly on the first two laps but after that we zoomed around that track of tyres. (Brrrrrrrrrrmmmmmm!)
We went to a disco and boogied all night; some of the boys asked us to dance but others filled us with fright.
Before we abseiled we were really nervous but once we had been down, we couldn’t wait to do it again.
The underground tunnel trail was great fun – we crawled through a small tunnel in the pitch dark with rocks in the way. It was spooky!
Osmington Bay was great fun and the activities were very good. Even the food was great! We wish we could go again.
The night hike was very good but spiders dropped down so we all wore our hoodies.
In archery we played a game “knife, fork and spoon” – each colour represented one piece of cutlery; which ever colour we hit, we had to eat our lunch with those tools. It was quite a sight watching people eating their entire meal with three spoons. Bullseye!

Dancing in our pyjamas with the teachers, having fun with the instructors, splashing everyone after the dragon boat race, watching out for flying spiders on the night hike, having the courage to leap from a nine metre pole to hit a ball: just some of the highlights of our stay.
Please Mrs Thomas and Mrs Hodgkiss, can we go again?
The teachers, along with the girls, agreed that it was a good site and a great stay; we definitely plan to return – even just for those wonderful views all day. Thank you to everyone for making it such a success.
