Pink Day for Pinky, the elephant
Thursday 26th February
If you had visited the Prep School on 26th February 2004 you would be forgiven for thinking that you were seeing the world – school – through rose coloured glasses! The Prep School was “in the pink”, for a very good cause.

It had all started when Becky from the Born Free Foundation came to give her annual talk to us and this year she told us all about “Pinky” – an orphaned baby elephant in Sri Lanka. Born Free were now looking after him, encouraging him to be independent.

With Mrs Johnson offering all sorts of pink prizes to the most interesting pink outfits, and Mrs Thomas coming up with all sorts of pink games, then the hard work working Born Free Club ably assisted by the wonderful LIII, guiding and helping, how could Pinkie Day not be a success?

The sun shone, the balloons at the front door greeted everyone, and who can forget such treats as "Splat the Poacher" or "Pin the trunk on the elephant", or "Where is the pink elephant hiding?"

A very big thank you to everyone: parents who nobly put together jars of pink sweets, trays of pink cakes, donated pink balloons: the staff who were pinksensatinal; all the girls who with their usual enthusiasm, entered into all the fun, supporting such a worthy cause.

You all raised an amazing £250.00! Congratulations and thank you.
