The aim of the science curriculum at Malsis is to prepare the children for their qualifying exams into their chosen school, whether it be at 11+, 12+, 13+ or Public School Scholarship.
The Programme of Study is based on the National Curriculum and followed through the Science Syllabus from the ISEB.
During the summer, prior to my arrival at Malsis, the Laboratories were opened up, extended and modernised. We are now lucky to have first rate facilities that incorporate a wet and dry lab, new computers (networked and inter-netted), telescopes, microscopes and specialist equipment for the study of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Electronics. The grounds of the school give wonderful opportunities for ecological studies and surveys, habitat and community investigations and the ability to take the subject out of the classroom/lab and into the field, whilst remaining in a safe environment.

The children are encouraged to develop skills that are integral not only to the subject but also to life:-
Asking questions Interpreting data
Observing Communicating
Making hypotheses Recording
Predicting Fair testing

They are also expected to develop attitudes that will aid them in all subject areas:-
Curiosity
Tolerating uncertainty
Respect for evidence

Over all the sciences are taught as ‘hands on subjects’ where the children can develop as individuals and as part of a group, enjoying the environment with the back up of a well provided laboratory.
We have the benefit of a superb location, excellent facilities and the opportunity to excel.
