"Promoting Learning, Celebrating Achievement"
Bowness - An Active School
LATEST NEWS
Welcome to Bowness on Solway Primary School website.

We are a small school to the West of Carlisle in Cumbria. From the school hall we look across the Solway to Scotland. As the year proceeds we will be adding details of the various events and activities that make our school a busy, happy place.

We hope that you enjoy visiting our site.

Over the next few weeks we will be looking to redesign the site so that information from the Community and other organisations is more accesible.

Caring for our Community
On Friday 16th October, after the children presented a Harvest Celebration to parents and friends, an auction of the Harvest produce raised £320!
The proceeds are to be donated to the Children's Wing of the Local Eden Valley Hospice.
December2009- Many of the children like to exchange Christmas cards. This year some of the children, instead of sending cards, sent in a donation for the "One in a million appeal" that is aiming to provide a new Air Ambulance for our community, which is essential, given our location. One our families has benefitted in the last couple of years from the helicopter getting their relation to hospital quickly, so it really is a vital emergency service.
Working with the community
We are keen to work with other organisations and groups within our community. As such we will be devoting part of the website to promoting these.
Bowness-caring for our world
We are lucky to have lots of outside space. A few years ago we planted 100 trees in the grounds.
We are also hoping that over the next few months we will see the installation of a bank of solar panels above Reception Class' roof.
Bowness Film Awards
At the start of July, following the children being busy making a series of short films, an Awards' Ceremony was held, with the Parents' Association transforming the hall and entrance, including the red carpet. Pictures captured of the fun soon to be posted in the Parents' Association pages.

The children have been very keen to raise funds that can be sent to help in Haiti following the recent earthquake. As well as selling cakes in school, a Bad Hair Day was suggested.
The Fun Factory
The After School Club continues to provide child care facilities after school.

If your child is attending the sporting or baking clubs organised by school staff, children can be booked in to the Club for the remainder of the session.

If you require further details or you need to contact the Club, please phone Sandra on 0784 726 5632.
