Bowness in the Wider World
Bowness-in a Global perspective
Bowness is a small village West of Carlisle. It is quite isolated and there are few buses to the village on a daily basis.
As such we are very keen that the children appreciate their own immediate locality as well as the fact that they are growing in a world that, through transport and communication advances, is a shrinking world.
Hope for Haiti
At the start of 2010 all the children were moved by the scenes on the television of the disaster that unfolded following the earthquake in Haiti.
The children proposed a day that could be devoted to raising funds to help the emergency services doing their best to help.
On Thursday 11th February the children brought in cakes to sell, as well as making a donation for having "Bad Hair on that day.

In addition, some of the children made cakes to sell in the village and raised a substantial amount of money from this.

Another pupil offered to do lots of jobs at home to raise money. When all these contributions were totalled, the amount raised was well over £200. Well done and thanks to all parents who helped their children get ready for this.
