Browse Roleplaying Games by Genre

Nothing exemplifies the Fan Boy Three motto like browsing by genre. Who cares if the system is D6, D20, D% or even diceless if the result is a great gaming experience? The game system shouldn't be the star when it's more like the car. I don't need to know how the internal combustion engine works in order to drive down to Fan Boy Three's ample nearby on street parking.

Fasten your seatbelts - we're on the road to great games.

Mix and Match - a Guide to Crossing Genres

With all the mainstream genres taken by the industry fat cats, the gaming industry has worked its own brand of alchemy by mixing and matching multiple genres in pursuit of gaming gold. Ever since the success of Call of Cthulhu, Horror has been a popular addition – just look at the mid Nineties crop of Deadlands (Western + Horror), 5 Rings (Samurai + Horror) and Fading Suns (Space Opera + Horror). Must’ve been Zeitgeist, ‘cos it looks like US TV was busy doing more of the same (anyone for Buffy?)

There’s nothing to stop you mixing and matching your favourite game genres either. But combining any more than two genres should probably be left to the experts – that’s why GURPS was invented.
