On Friday 17th June 2011, The Right Reverend Trevor Willmott, Bishop of Dover came to St Mary's School to officially open and bless the new building.
A service of Dedication took place and we thanked everybody who made it possible for us to have such a wonderful new building.
Mr Bird explained that back in 1954, local Christians and the National Society put forward the vision of educational opportunity for all. Our new building will ensure that vision is carried forward for the benefit of children today and for future generations.
After the service, Bishop Trevor was invited to officially open the building with the cutting of a ribbon and the unveiling of a commemorative wall plaque.
The children celebrated with a choice of a strawberry or chocolate cupcake each.
A tiled collage designed by the children of St Mary's is proudly displayed on the wall of the new building.
Bishop Trevor asks the children what makes them proud to be at St Mary's.
Everyone had lots of ideas about what made St Mary's such a great school.
