T2W in the community
|
UK Government Guidance on the duty to promote community cohesion (July 2007) points out:
"From September 2007 schools will also be under a new duty to promote community cohesion. Most schools already consider this as a fundamental part of their role and already work in ways which promote community cohesion. Similarly, many local authorities are working to promote community cohesion and should also regard this as an area to support schools.
Every school - whatever its intake and wherever it is located - is responsible for educating children and young people who will live and work in a country which is diverse in terms of cultures, religions or beliefs, ethnicities and social backgrounds.
Through their ethos and curriculum; schools can promote discussion of a common sense of identity and support diversity, showing pupils how different communities can be united by shared values and common experiences."
TAKE2THEWEB helps you create a school website that can engage and involve everyone in the community - children, families, staff, governors and the wider community. It’s one step towards community cohesion.

The Whole School Community
TAKE2THEWEB is designed with the whole community in mind. You can set up areas for head teacher, staff, pupils, parents’ association and governors and it’s so easy that anyone can create their own pages.“Just a little email to thank you for a wonderful product. Our latest group of children have done some wonderful things with the templates. The parents who came to the final presentation were overwhelmed by what their children had created - so much so they have asked if we would put on sessions for them (one pair were grandparents)” - Sue Laurence, Headteacher Now your staff, children and members of your school community, with only minimum technical skills, can help build and update the school website. You can have multiple authors and editors, but you remain in control to ensure quality and pupil safety. It's one task that could bring the whole community together - creating a common sense of identity and expressing the school ethos and shared values.
Here are a couple of examples of schools that use their T2W site to involve and reach out to their whole community.
