Gretchaninov - Vespers
A pupil of Rimsky-Korsakov in St Petersburg, Gretchaninov has been described as the most representative composer of his generation writing for the Orthodox service. His stunning setting of the Vespers is part of the All-Night Vigil service, and was composed, premièred and published in 1912, preceding Rachmaninov's setting by 3 years.
