The Christmas Life
Carols from St George's Singers Now on sale - Price £10
A festive mix of traditional and modern carols, The Christmas Life is St George's Singers' second CD of Christmas carols, recorded in October 2011 at St Thomas's Church in Stockport. We feel sure you'll enjoy this just as much as our last recording.
The CD title comes from a poem by Wendy Cope, set to music by Sasha Johnson Manning for St George's Singers in celebration of our Golden Jubilee in 2006. Other new works include O My Dear Heart by Manchester composer David Jepson, also written especially for the Choir, and Will Todd's The Christ-child. From earlier days come two particular favourites of the Choir: I Saw Three Ships, a rousing arrangement of a traditional carol by Darius Battiwalla, and En! Natus est Emanuel by Michael Praetorius, dating from 400 years ago. And for those who prefer traditional Christmas carols, the CD also includes In the Bleak Midwinter, Sussex Carol, Ding Dong! and many more.
We hope you enjoy celebrating the Christmas season with St George's Singers. Merry Christmas to you all!
