Zakopane

Up above Zakopane by funicular
Some of the choir stayed on after the tour to travel down to Zakopane in the south of Poland. It is a charming and picturesque ski and summer resort town full of delightful wooden architecture and surrounded by magnificent mountains covered in snow. The town is small but full of interesting markets, shops, bars and restaurants as well as many pensions and hotels. Cable cars and a funicular take visitors up the mountains and the scenery is very beautiful and unspoilt. |

A waterfall in the Tatras
The Tatras are in a national park on the southernmost border of Poland and are part of the massive Carpathian mountain range bordering on Slovakia. The scenery is spectacular, with many miles of very wild and beautiful mountains and lakes to walk among. There are official mountain chalets to stay in and the cost of living and travel is very cheap. |
