German Masterworks
|
From: Anne Lever
Date: 27th June 2010
I felt I must write and tell you how much I enjoyed the German Masterworks concert yesterday evening! I was introduced to you about 5 years ago thro' 2 friends who are in your choir and have been an active fan ever since. I was so glad the flyer with the newsletter arrived on Friday!
What was special about last night? Even the thought of sitting in a cold church on a warm summer evening was enticing but the music itself was so vital, alive and engaging. I particularly liked the solo, as an 'old favourite' it is easy to be comfortable with it, but the clarity, brilliance and serenity of the piece was outstanding. I also enjoyed the Mendelssohn organ solo - I am not aware that I had heard it before but it sent my imagination soaring. And to me the choir became a harmonious orchestra full of passion and joy.
Thank you all so much for a wonderful evening.

Singing Day
|
From: Martin Jones
Date: 17th January 2010
I am writing to thank you for another brilliant singing day at Poynton yesterday. Unlike previous years, I had not previously sung the two works before, but I'm glad I came along and took part. The arrangements were first class as usual, and the food was as good and plentiful as ever! Thank you very much to all involved, and hopefully I shall see you all again in January 2011!

I thought I would let you know how much Jo and I enjoyed the Singing Day yesterday. It was a wonderful opportunity to work on music which neither of us had met before, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Many thanks to everyone who helped to make it such a successful day.

In a Monastery Garden
|
From: Anthony Holt
Date: 23rd June 2009
My friends and I greatly enjoyed the Singers' performance on Saturday: a powerful and well-rehearsed choir singing cherished folk songs. A marvellous night out!
The performance of Britten's settings for English poets was lovely but for me, the highlights were the Rilke fragments which touched on a particular spirituality within the hallowed walls of this beloved monastery. I genuinely did not want these gorgeous songs to end!
I very much look forward to your next visit to the monastery next April.

Singing Day

From: Anne Haydock
Date: 18th January 2007
I took part in your Carmina Burana Singing Day on Saturday 13th January, and have to tell you how much I enjoyed it.
Everything about the day was perfect due, no doubt, to how much time and effort was put in by the organisers and caterers, and also to the talent and enthusiasm of the conductor, accompanists, soloists and percussionists. Please pass on my thanks to as many people as you can.
The Singing Day really lifted my spirits at this depressing time of year, and I already have next year’s date in my diary.
With many thanks and best wishes to you at St. George’s for your ventures in 2007.

Singing Day

From: Wendy Lonsdale
Date: 15th January 2007
Just a brief line to say how much I enjoyed the day on Saturday. It was extremely well organized and the experience of singing with so many other people was fantastic. All three friends who attended were amazed at the professional performance which had been put on in so many hours and all found it very emotional. The soloists were particularly commended and I am only sorry we could not see their facial expressions which were apparently very entertaining!
I hope to attend next year if possible.

I thought this was an awsome singing experience; thankyou for including me at the last minute. The Singers are truly fortunate to have such an expressive Conductor - I felt truly included in both the rehearsal and the performance.

Christmas Concert
|
From: Peter Bayley, Chairman, Stockport and District Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society
Date: 15th December 2006
I would like to thank the Choir for the really enjoyable concert last Saturday.
Also I would like to express my personal thanks and that of the entire MS community in Stockport and District for your sponsorship of the Stockport Branch. Through ticket sales and the post concert collection we managed to raise the magnificent sum of £442, it will be put to really good use to assist both local people and fund much needed research.
I would like to express my admiration for your very innovative approach to sponsorship and hope that it will be possible for you to continue with this type of arrangement, either with ourselves or with other charities in the future.
