Mrs Whiteford
Mrs Whiteford's classes have had a good first term with lots of learning and fun activities going on.
P1 and P2/1 have been learning about the world through the creation story. We have explored dark places, been out collecting and examining plants and finding out about trees. This term we will learn about the sun and moon, animals and how we can look after our world. |
P3/2 and P3 have been thinking about people who are special to us and our community and are now considering why Jesus is special to Christians. P3 have also been learning what it was like to live in 1st century Palestine. We made up games using sticks and stones, made pots from clay and bread which tasted delicious. We have been trying to write and follow instructions. |
P4 and P5/4 have been learning about the parables of Jesus and thinking what the meaning behind these stories are. We had fun acting out modern day versions of the Good Samaritan.
P4 are moving onto doing some science. We are going to be asking How and Why questions about water.
P5's have started learning French and have been learning how to greet each other and ask and answer questions about ourselves. We think we sound a bit strange but we are having fun learning how other people say things. |
In P6/5 and P6 we have been learning about the lives of some saints and were considering whether we thought Martin Luther King should be called a saint. We are going to make pizza box biographies of other people who have become famous because their faith has led them to do something special.
P6's in P6/5 have also been continuing with French and are becoming experts at talking about houses and homes.
P6 have also been improving their netball skills and have enjoyed playing proper games wearing position bibs. To finish we had an inter-house competition. Calder were the overall winners but not by much.
