Support for Learning

At Lochwinnoch Primary, we aim to provide additional support to pupils when required.

The Support for learning Team includes:

Learning support co-ordinator: Miss L. McDevitt (DHT)
Learning support teacher: Mrs J. Livingstone
Psychologist: Mrs F. Downie

P3 Screening Programme

During the course of P3 all pupils are involved in the P3 screening programme. The class teacher meets with the DHT and the learning support teacher sometime after the October holidays. The progress of each child is discussed and actions to be taken are agreed at this meeting.

Following the Screening Meeting some P3 pupils will have additional support arranged for them. This support might include one or more of the following:
Extra homework
Additional support from a classroom assistant or a teacher
Assessment by the Learning Support Teacher
Direct support from the Learning Support Teacher

Parents will be informed only if the additional support is significant. Most pupils will be making good progress and will not require additional support.
