Welcome To Spirit of the Trees 2012 Games Project
|
|
Children in schools around the world are already planting trees in the "Spirit of the Trees 2012 Games" project.
We are aiming for 2012 schools to plant one or more trees before the 2012 Olympics. Why not encourage your pupils to particpate and at the same time help them become Global citizens.
Help them to develop their awareness of the need for sustainability on our planet and for all nations to work together in the spirit of unity, friendship, co-operation and collaboration and to foster tolerance and understanding among the peoples of the world.
They will make new friends discover new countries and help preserve the ozone layer of our incredible planet
Bilingual students, or those learning a second language are invited to write their investigations in both languages - adding another dimension to the promotion of intercultural understanding.

How to get Started!
|
Look at the Simple Tree Diagram on the right, and decide how many of the 6 points you want your school to become involved with.
It might only be points 1, 2, 3 as part of a conservation project.
You will then need to go to Magazine 2 to send the picture and text ( the best pictures and work submitted will be published on this site)
However, you might want to undertake all 6 elements, as part of a creative curriculum including work linked to Sports, linked to the Spirit of the 2012 Games.
This will enable your school to develop a global curriculum with the many schools across the world that are particpating in this particular project.
If you are wondering where to get the trees from, why not approach your local nursery, the Woodland Trust or Forestry Department, to see if they will sponsor a tree for your school.
