Welcome to Spirit of the Trees 2012
The Spirit of the Trees 2012 online magazine is published regularly on this site. It features the work of the tree planting that children all over the world have conducted, recorded and published within SchoolNet Global.

To launch this International Project a National poet, Philip Wells (the firepoet) planted the first of the trees and wrote a special poem to mark this event.

The student work is often accompanied by short articles and links to resources about cultures around the world. These resources are frequently identified by the children and their teachers.

Together project participants and supporters are building a database of the best resources to facilitate knowledge building about the world's natural and cultural heritage. In addition, children have the opportunity to increase their understanding of being a Global Citizen and the responsibilities that they have for the future of our world.

From the children's point of view this project gives them a chance to report, first hand about their own tree planting and environment. Then they have the opportunity of learning about other cultures and working together globally, building friendships and understanding between countries, in the spirit of the Olympics.
