The Role of the Department
|
The Psychological Service is the section in which all the educational psychologists on the team work, and is the Children and Community Department of South Ayrshire Council.
The Psychological Service contribute to improving educational, social, emotional and psychological outcomes for all children in South Ayrshire, including those who don't go to school, who change school often, who go to external day placements, or who are in residential placements.
We apply psychology to bring about positive changes and remove barriers to learning and progress. In order to achieve this Educational Psychologists work at three levels - child and family, whole school and authority.
The service produces guidelines and documents to ensure that there is fair and consistent practice across the schools in the area.
