Request for Involvement
|
When a teacher is concerned about a child/young person, they can request a consultation with an Educational Psychologist. If a parent or carer has concerns, they should share these with the school, who will request an appointment.
The school will not talk to the Educational Psychologist without first discussing the matter with the parent/carer.
The Educational Psychologist will meet with the school and/or parent/carer to discuss their concerns, and they will decide together what needs to happen next. For example the teachers and Educational Psychologist may decide to try a new intervention to see if it helps the child. The Educational Psychologist may decide to gather more information to identify barriers to learning. Often schools have already done lots of testing so there is no need for the Educational Psychologist to do any more.
