EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES AND SOCIAL JUSTICE

Our aim is to develop an Equal Opportunities ethos and provide a non-discriminatory environment in which all pupils are encouraged to achieve their maximum potential in each area of the curriculum.
In addition, pupils are encouraged to show respect and tolerance towards others and to help those who are less fortunate. We try to make pupils aware of the equal value of others irrespective of sex, race, religion, culture or disabilities.
Schools take seriously any reported racist incidents. Within the school’s approach to promoting positive discipline a record of all racist incidents is maintained and each incident fully investigated. Parents will be contacted in the event of their child being involved in such incidents. A copy of the school’s Position Statement on Race Equality may be obtained from Mrs Weightman, our school’s Equality Co-ordinator.
Schools are required to notify the local authority of all racist incidents.
