South Lanarkshire Council
St. Aidan's has many exciting clubs that pupils can join!
FOOTBALL
St. Aidan's have traditionally run many football teams and have had a lot of success at both league and Scottish competitions. Recently we have started girls’ football and there has been quite a good uptake in participation amongst S1-3 girls.
GYMNASTICS
Over recent year St Aidan's have been developing our involvement in gymnastics from individual work to group sequence routines. We now have both girls and boys competing in both North Lanarkshire and Scottish events.
GOLF
This club operates on a Monday after school. Pupils are given the opportunity to develop their skills and enthusiasm for the game at first in the games hall then out on a golf course. A professional coach comes to the school to work with pupils to help develop their game.
NETBALL
Over the past few years we have begun to establish a netball club in the school. Some of the female staff in the school like to participate and the girls love the opportunity to play both with and against their teachers.
DANCE
This is a very popular club with all of our girls. We run a school dance festival in October and there is tremendous enthusiasm amongst the girls for this event. We also compete in all local school and North Lanarkshire dance workshops and festivals.
ATHLETICS
We recently brought an athletics coach from a local Athletics club to the school to improve field event skills and to encourage more pupils to take up athletics in their own time. This year the coach is from a different local club and track events are being targeted.
BADMINTON
This is a long established club at St Aidan's. Some pupils play for the social experience whilst others are more competitive and are involved in both district and Scottish competition or coaching.
