Parents are reminded that the purpose of a Parent Council is to establish much closer links between schools and parents and to give parents a much greater say in the running of schools. We would be delighted to hear from you on educational matters and a warm welcome is extended to all parents to come to our meetings. Lochmaben Parent Council is extremely hard working and supportive of our school. Its members work tirelessly to improve the educational provision for all our pupils.

The Parent Council has many roles, in particular these include a duty to :-

1. Keep parents informed about the Council's activities and finding out parents’ views on school matters.

2. Receive and request reports and information from the Head Teacher and the Education Authority.

3. Confirm the Head Teacher’s plans for buying books, materials and other resources

4. Participate in the selection of Promoted Staff.

5. Appraise and ratify the School Improvement and Quality Assurance Plans

Details of the Council's activities will be sent to you in the Board’s annual report. Minutes of all meetings are kept and, once approved, are on display on the Parents’ Noticeboard.
