Save the Children Fund
Every Thursday we bring in any money we can spare to give to the Save the Children Fund. We call it "Penny Box". This has been happening in Lochmaben School since 1959, when around £67 a year was collected. Nowadays we collect over £1500 a year! Our contribution over the years has been recognised with local Lockerbie branch members and school representatives meeting Princess Anne, the President of the Save the Children Fund three years ago.
Every year, towards the end of the summer term, P6 hold a "Fete" and give the proceeds to Save the Children. It is a fun morning for everyone!

Shoebox Appeal
For the past four years Lochmaben School has collected shoeboxes filled with little Christmas gifts for needy children in third world countries. Initially, it started to encourage nursery children to think of others. It has grown to involve the whole school and now sends over 160 boxes each year!
Mrs Rae will be contacting you in the near future regarding Operation Christmas Child.
The magnificent amount of 184 shoe boxes were sent this year. Thank you all!

Rag Bag
As part of their enterprise education P4/5 pupils, assisted by pupils from P1, will soon be organising our next Rag Bag collection. Normally we use a company called Bags2school. However, this session we are using Rag Bag, a locally based company. This is a good opportunity to have a clearout before Christmas. So any clothes, shoes, scarves, handbags, curtains etc you no longer want please 'Bag it don't Bin it' and send into school on Monday 12th December. The bags will be uplifted on Tuesday 13th December 2011. Due to lack of space in the school we would ask that bags are not delivered to school until the 12th or 13th December. All money will be used to enhance school resources.
