Castletown School is built around an open courtyard.
The courtyard can be accessed from classrooms and the library, which in summer time provides the children with a beautiful area to read in.
The courtyard is designed to look like a Mediterranean garden. The plants are all from warm climates and in spring and summer provide a colourful centre piece to the school.
View Looking North
A seating area surrounds the sun-dial which stands in the centre of the courtyard. Set into the grass areas are details salavaged from the original Castletown School, thus maintaining a link with the past.
Courtyard in winter
The courtyard is not only lovely in summer, but becomes really beautiful in winter when it snows.
