There has been lots of activity recently in our school garden. We decided to create a new allotment garden as well as our nature garden.
The garden which will be known as ‘Castletown Community Garden’ will enable us to plant fruit and vegetable crops as well as flowers. We will be able to use this garden for many subject areas - science, geography, history and PHSE as well as topic work such as World War Two - Dig for Victory.

With the fantastic support of our parents we raised an amazing 5000 Morrisons ‘Grow Your Own’ vouchers which was enough for us to reach our target of a greenhouse which we expect to arrive very soon.
We are very proud of our new garden and can’t wait to begin planting as soon as the weather warms up. We have a gardening club that meet on a Thursday after school so keep watching our garden we should have some green shoots appearing very soon.

The school has become very ‘eco friendly’. We have an eco team who have been looking at ways of making our school more sustainable. We identified that we need to save energy. Our eco team have the responsibility of saving energy, at present by switching off lights when no one is in the room.
We have already achieved our ‘Bronze’ award and we are well on the way to our silver award. Hopefully we will be able to achieve our ‘Green Flag’.
