Our Choir year began in September bringing in new members from year 3 and welcoming back old members. Our first performance as a new choir was on September 9th when we performed in Mowbray Park Sunderland. Our song Painting A Dream was our own composition from our participation in The Lowery Project.
We then began learning songs with a Chinese Olympic theme. We had been asked by the composer of two songs ‘ Welcome To China ‘ and ‘ Sailing For Quingdow ‘ to learn and perform the songs .We then recorded them to send to our Olympic project school in Wuhan, China as well as a traditional Chinese song about a Jasmine flower which we sang in Cantonese.
We recently auditioned for the finals of the 4th. City Sings Competition to be held in March at the Empire in Sunderland, and hope we are successful!
Christmas time is a busy time for the Choir - we have a coffee morning for family and friends so that everyone can hear songs we have been learning, some children will go to sing Christmas songs at our local old people’s home, and then finally we take part in our end of term Carol Concert.
