We have a garden at the front of our classroom. We have planted lots of different bulbs, daffodils, snowdrops and crocus. The flowers are just started to flower, we are hoping a lot more will soon show their flowers.

Literacy lesson with a difference

In our literacy lessons we have been learning how to follow, read and write our own instructions. We had to explain to our friends how to make a clay pot and paint it. To do this correctly the first thing we had to do was to make the clay pot. Then we explain how to do it and also make a set of written instructions so everyone knows how to make a pot. We had great fun with the clay!

Linked to our science topic of materials we have made paper mache pots. We use newpaper and wallpaper paste to create our pots, it was a lovely messy job. We discovered that the paper dried out and become very hard to make a lovely pot. We then painted and decorated the pot and are going to give them to our mothers for Mother's day. We hope our mams like them.

Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year. It is the year of the rat this year. Most of us were born in the year of the horses or the snake. We have noodles and prawn crackers and tried our hand at using chop sticks, that was very tricky. We made Chinese dragon puppets and laterns.We watched the famous dragon dance on video. It was a great day and we learnt a lot about Chinese traditions.

During our literacy lessons we followed instructions on how to make a plasticine hedgehog. We had to follow the instructions carefully to make sure we got it correct. Look at our results! do you think they look like hedgehogs!!! We really enjoyed making them
