To access this guide and your website editing area, you will have logged in using your User ID and password.
You will need to do this every time you wish to edit your site. It is important to remember to LOG OUT when you have finished your session, to prevent others from accessing your website editing area. You session will automatically time-out after 20 minutes inactivity.
If this is the first time you have logged in, you will find a welcome message on your home page. This is temporary, and you can delete it later.
Your take2theweb site has five modes. Use the grey toolbar across the top of your screen to switch between modes:
1. Preview Mode - when you log in, you enter the site in Preview Mode. It lets you see all the content you have on your site, whether published or unpublished. You know you are in preview mode if you can see both the published and unpublished pages on your site, and if you have the following toolbar at the top of your page:

|
|
2. Page Editor Mode - this is where you add or change content to your pages.
To get into the Page Editor from Preview Mode, click on EDIT PAGE. To return to Preview Mode, click SAVE & VIEW or use your back button (note you will lose any changes if you use the latter). You know you are in Page Editor Mode when you can see the page summary at the top of your page, and have the following toolbar at the top of your page:

|
3. Style Editor - this is where you set the global look for your whole site. You can set background colours, add logos and banners that will display on every page and set the font type and size for your site. Styles can be changed or updated whenevery you like. You will find more information about this mode in Section 6.

|
4. Admin Area - take2theweb allows you to assign varying levels of access to members of your community. Depending on the type of webiste you have chosen you may have any of the following: Master Account, Admin Account, Editor, Contributor or Read Only Accounts. Each account holder has their own user ID and password to access your website. The Master Account Holder and Admin account holder have access to a special Admin area where they can set access permissions for each contributor account.
If you can not see the ADMIN button in the top grey toolbar, you either have no contributor accounts, or you have not been given access to this area by the Master account holder.
You can find more information about contributor accounts in the section on User Permissions.

5. Your published website - this is what the public see. The public will only see pages that you have published. To check out what is published, go into Page Editor and click MY SITE. Your published site will popup in a new window. If you get an error message, it is because you have not yet published any pages.
You will find more information about publishing in Step 7.
Nothing on your site can be seen by the public until you chose to publish your pages, so you can experiment as much as you wish in complete safety. You can work on your site Style or Edit your pages in any order.
