Templates - Inline Frame (iFrame)
You can use this template to embed another web site within your site. This is useful for linking to external sites, or where sites form part of a community. The governing body can use an iFrame to embed partner sites, and Community members can use the iFrame to embed information pages from the parent site.
In this example, we have embedded the Intuitive Media website. Simply write the URL of the page you require into the Embedded Frame input box. Use the full URL such as http://www.goldstarcafe.net
Options:
Select an appropriate size for your embedded frame - this will be dictated by the layout of the site you are embedding and the size of your own site. Try to avoid horizontal scrolling if possible. We have set our Frame size to: 800 x 750 pixels.
Choose whether you want scroll bars to appear on your embedded frame. Selecting Automatic will ensure scroll bars appear where necessary. You can give your iFrame a border of your chosen colour. We have chosen a pink border, 2 pixels wide.
Tips on using iFrames
Note that embedding a wide website screen will force the width of your webpage. If you are in control of the format of the website you are embedding, you may wish to design this to fit.
The SchoolNet Global website uses iFrames to embed collaborative magazines of children's work. These magazines have been designed specifically to fit in an iFrame using seperate take2theweb accounts.
