Administrators have access to a section that is invisible to Editors and Contributors, called "Admin". If you have Administrator access you will find it next to the "Edit Syle" button after you have logged on:
The Admin section is where administrators can find out what the User IDs and Passwords are of all other users. Simply click on the Admin button, then click the name of a user and then click "Password".
Administrators also use this section to set which pages and what access rights all other users are allocated. Click the name of a user and then click "Permissions". Every page of the site is listed in turn, with three columns of tick boxes available against each page.
The first column gives that contributor permission to view the page. If he/she cannot view it then it's contents are invisible to that user unless it is a published page and he/she goes to the public web site to see it.
The second column gives that contributor permission to change the contents of the page - to edit it. If the contributor selected is classed as an "Editor" or an "Administrator", the he/she can change anything, including the Page Template. If he/she is classed as a "Contributor", then he/she can change the contents of the page but cannot change the Page Template (which ideally will have already have been selcted by an Editor or Administrator).
The third column give the selected contributor the right to "Publish" the page without reference to someone else. Only contributors classed as Administrators or Editors have this column available.
Those classed as Contributors cannot be given the right to Publish their pages directly - they have to request an Administrator, or an Editor that has been given access to the page in question, to visit the page, tick the "Publish" box (which will be visible to them but not to the Contributor) and save the page to make it public.
