Background Colours and Graphics
Modifying you Site Background
There are two ways to modify the background of your site. You can select block colours or add graphics.

Block Colours
Go to Edit Style and scroll down to the Design section: Background Colours

You can select colours for each area of your website by clicking the Pick Colour button and selecting a colour. It is possible, though not necessarily desirable, to choose different colours for each section. You could, for example, choose bright yellow for the background to your banner (Title Fill) and purple for the rest of your page (Page Fill). However such combinations can make your site look bitty and can be very hard on the viewer's eye! Dark background colours can make your text difficult to read.
It's worth experimenting with combinations of colours to see what works best for you. Try and choose colours that enhance your site content rather than interfering with it. Getting a second opinion from someone who has never seen your site can also help.

Background Images
Go to Edit Style and scroll down to the Design section: Background Images

You can use this area to select images that will appear on every page of your site. More information on adding your banner and logo.

If you wish to add background graphics to your site, you first need to create these using a paint package such as PhotoShop. Once you have done this, you can add your graphics by clicking on the Browse button for the appropriate section and selecting your saved image from your hard disk.

For image effects on the main part of your page, select from the Page Background pick list. "Tiled" will create a repeated image, whereas "Static" will place just a single image on your page.

Care must be taken when using Background Images, as some may interfere with your site content and make your text difficult to read. Choose images which complement rather than distract from your content, and get a second opinion of you are not sure. If in doubt, stick to block colours in the first instance - you can always change your mind later!
