Why add a Banner?
Adding a banner to your website helps to tie your website together and ensures that your visitors always know which website they are looking at. A banner can give a very strong message to your visitors, it can communicate your organisation's branding and ethos, or can help to create atmosphere on your site.
You will need to create a banner using a package such as PhotoShop. To help you get started, we have supplied some examples which you can download and modify as you wish.
Why add a Logo?
When you add a logo, it appears on every page of your site. Using your organisation's logo will help to promote your organisation's branding, helping to get your organisation know. Avoid using logo's scanned from paperwork as scanned images are likely be of poorer quality and may not display well on your website. Try to work form original files if you can.

Hints & Tips
Sizing
You will need to consider carefully the width and height of your banner and logo.
You can use your banner to set the width of your entire website. To do this, to to Edit Style and in the Page Width button, choose "Banner Width." This works well with banners that are of a different colour to the background of your site. A banner between 600 and 700 pixels wide can work well.
A banner height of around 80 pixels usually works well. If your banner is too high, it will push your content too far down the page.
It is a good idea to set the height of your Logo to match the height of your banner. The width of your logo will influence how wide your entire navigation section appears. Too wide and your navigation section will be too wide. If your logo is too narrow you may see a gap between the logo and banner if your navigation button text is too long.
It is worth checking out other sites to see how their logos and banners display.
Colours
When designing your banner, you may wish to consider how it fits in with the colours on the rest of your site. Creating banner and logo graphics with the same or complementary colours to the rest of your page can make your site easier to look at.
